Aldo wrote:Thanks Chris, Bill and Bryan! It sounds like what is going on is very normal. I have the push/pull style as well - so even more likely there is no problem. If you don't mind another simple question:

Is it also common for the mixture cable to result in no noticible leaning until it is pulled out a significant distance? Without measuring, I would estimate I pull it out about half way before noticible leaning starts.

Mine creeps unless I lock it down fairly tight. Even tight, I have no problem advancing or retarding the throttle under normal conditions. I only notice it when I'm on the ground and am trying to finely set my RPMs for warmup or taxi. Not a bid deal, but I notice it then.

Would anyone recommend a vernier type cable as a possible solution to this problem?

Hi Guys,
Has anyone found an effective fix for this issue? I am in the early phases of flight testing and having the same problem with my throttle retarding no matter how tight I wind up the knob on my aero-conversions side mount throttle lever. I just don't have enough hands to take care of all the other stuff I need to do.
I have a Jabiru 3300 engine with the aeroinjector.

Here is what I do.
1. At engine shut down I loosen the knob to let the leather washer to decompress.
2. Spray a little water on the washer from time to time.
3. On the way back from OSH this year after 6 days in the sun my washer had dried out enough that my throttle started to slip back as you did. I loosened the knob and poured a little water on the washer and let sit for about a minute. This freshened the leather enough that when I tightened up the knob it held .

That sounds like a great idea - thanks Bob !
I'll give that a try today.
