Please explain those Vice-Grips. Is the red thing an eyebolt to replace the usual thumbscrew and allow inserting a crossbar to really crank them down?

With "Vise Grip" being the generic term for locking pliers much the same as "Crescent" (adjustable wrench), "Skill" (circular saw)....."Kleenex" (Corvair powered Sonex)...........you get the point..........manufactures try to improve on the "mousetrap" by fiddling with a design to make it stand out to make it......? better?

Behold......Milwaukee has decided a loop in the adjuster would make for a handy little gizmo from which to hang their incarnation of the already perfect tool. Personally, I think they got it wrong. Vise Grip, with the knurled knob, can be adjusted quickly with a single hand. The Milwaukee offering must be held in one hand while turning the pretty red screw with the other. 1/2 turn at a time.

I intend to replace the Swiss cheese component with something more user friendly as soon as I can decipher the diameter and pitch of the "improvement".

Being a stickler for details I need to make a slight correction to this information. The correct spelling is "Cleanex" and not all corvair powered Sonex airframes qualify as a Cleanex. It appears Anthony's Waiex does qualify as a Cleanex. 8~)

I originally had Kleenex written down as the "facial tissue". A wave of whimsy came over me and changed it to what you see. I simply forgot to change the K to a C.

I guess I'm lost as to the exact definition of "Cleanex".

No worries my friend. It likely only matters to me anyway ... 8~)
