Where to buy more spar channel?

Postby taildragger » Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:29 pm

Due to my mismanagement of .032 spar channel assembly, I'm short two pieces for -01L and R, 48.875 inches each.

What is the best place to buy more spar channel?

Obvious choice is directly from Sonex.

I built a sheet metal brake that would easily bend that, so would consider ordering a sheet from Aircraft Spruce or my local Aluminum dealer if ordering from Sonex wasn't convenient.

Ordered it from Sonex. Two weeks, but no ship notification yet. What delivery times should I expect from Sonex?

I can't remember where I saw it - but I do recall seeing that there was going to be a short hiatus from the store during ownership transfer. Number mentioned was about a week.

23 December through 7 January - today. Sonex posted this and emailed us around 15 December. It mentions an extra week this year as compared to prior years, likely because of the transfer.

It took 17 days to arrive, but it may have been longer, or the wrong length if I had not:
- Sent an urgent email stating I needed 49 inch length.
The web store defaults to 48 inches.
- Called twice to confirm the 49 inch length.
Mark Schaible, new owner of Sonex, answered the calls twice. Sonex must be short on phone support, but I’ll talk to Mark any day.
- Acted right after the two week holiday shutdown.

It cost $61. Wow, not the costliest mistake one can make. At least it’s bent to the correct dimensions; better than I could have done. LOL
