My Sonex B Wiring Diagram

Postby pfhoeycfi » Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:12 am

Attached is my diagram first draft. Please feel free to comment, criticize, make recommendations on connections, routing, wire & fuses...everything.

Anything shown connected to the avionics bus is still in a general state...no real detail yet.

Very little original thought here...thank you to all who posted their diagrams.

Hi Peter,
Nice job laying that out. I would suggest moving the 10 AMP fuse on the turbo cooler as close to be battery as possible, before the thermostat switch. When I wired mine, I also used a micro relay. That way the thermostat switch isn’t switching the 4ish amps to the pump and the fan, just a thought, I know Sonex did not indicate a relay being required on their wiring diagrams, but I think it is wise and can’t hurt.

Hi Peter, just some random observations on your wiring diagram.
-Switch S700-2-1 could be a spdt if you move the wire on pin 6 to pin 3. The 'turbo cooler on' light can go
to pin 2. Wire on pin 5 isnt needed.
-Switch S700-2-10 pin 4 has a 5A CB going to a 15A fuse. The fuse will never blow.
-Switch S700-1-2 If the Avionics switch is left on after a flight, it will drain the battery. Its a good idea
to have one master switch that disconnects all power to the aircraft, ie power the avionics bus from the main bus.

Sorry to nit pick, your diagram looks good, (my wiring diagram is still drawn in pencil, lol).

Just had a second look, your avionics IS turned off by the main switch. I got crossed up
with the turbo thermostat wire which is always hot.
