Aveo

Cross post from Sonex Talk

Hi all,

I had been communicating with Aveo Engineering about their new all-in-one wingtip and position/strobe LED's. Apparently they showed the thing at Oshkosh, but I didn't get a chance to see it.

Two questions for the crowd:

1. Did anyone actually see this?
2. Is anyone else using Aveo's all in one wingtip and lights?

I'm also interested in any user experiences with Aveo and their stuff. Thus far communication with them has been mildly frustrating via email.

Thanks

Yep - that's the one, and it was that blog post that made me contact them. I know one of their engineers through the Cessna 150/152 type club, and he said they took them to Oshkosh.

I emailed the company (since he is not in sales) and that is where the chaos began.

I have an email in to Wicks to see if they can help figure it out - I am a long way from needing them but figured best to start asking now....I am a little uneasy so far as they seem a bit lost on their own product, and I do not want to go first on the install. We'll see.

I had Sonex leave the wingtips out of the sub kit order we got - can always go back and get them later.

Update - it appears Wicks carries these now. I am still determining what to put in mine. Separate post to follow....

Love the lights....

Just as an FYI, I went with the Aveo Powerburst LED nav/strobe lights and mounted them on a set of light standoffs from www.gaugepods.com

I've been very happy with the setup!

Mike,
Do you fly your Waiex at night?

Pitch black...no. Late into dusk/evening civil twilight...yes.

I don't have landing lights installed (yet) and as such, I haven't flown into true night conditions (i.e., pitch black). Personally, I don't have any big issues with night flying other than I'd like to have landing lights for takeoff and landing. As such I have bought an LED landing light kit but have yet to install it.

Having flown in late dusk conditions in the vicinity of other airplanes, I have been told the LED nav/strobe lights are very bright and easy to spot even from a long distance.
