I did a little research before buying these. You are correct about the 30º beam on lights but that's mostly for taxi lights. I read that taxi lights are generally 20-40º for beam spread and landing lights are 7- 20º depending on landing speeds. 16º for landing and 32º for taxi seems about right.
The good news is that the beam on these seems to me (and other reviewers) to be more than the stated 8º. Because I don't fly at night mine are more for visibility by others when I'm in the vicinity of the airport and on final approach. I have a wig-wag module but it isn't wired into the system yet.
For mounting I used the brackets from my Duckworth lights that I removed:
There are four machine screw holes in the rear of the lights making it easy to mount to the Duckworth mounting plate (those are easy enough to bend up from some scrap aluminum instead of buying them). Using those I retain the ability to aim the lights as needed.
