PFH Sonex B

Postby pfhoeycfi » Wed Feb 07, 2018 5:37 pm

I just received my B tail kit and don't know what to think of the one skin. There are long scratches from one end to the other...not a couple...many...almost the entire surface on one side. This wasn't a transport issue, the shipping boxes were in perfect condition. I am curious as to the quality of the skins other builders have received. I am disappointed.

The only scratches I remember seeing are ones created during the leading edge forming process. They weren't deep, and could easily be "buffed" out.

Are your scratches deep enough to easily feel with your fingernail? Would they show up in a picture?

Hi guy,
Just email sonex and attach the pics. I'm sure they'll take care of you.

I had to drill out a CCP rivet on the rudder where the skin secures to the top rib. The hole is now a little too loose for a 1/8. Having trouble locating similar CCP rivets the next size up, 5/32. Spruce doesn't seem to carry them, Wicks is out of stock. Can anyone recommend a source?

hi peter,
ace hardware store, most carry stainless steel pull rivets. in 1/8, and 5/32 diameters. Lengths of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2. they will be with the other Arrow products, ie staple guns etc. made in china like everything else, but the quality is good. just as good as the sonex or aircraft spruce rivets. they come in small packages of 25, for $5 out the door w tax.

good luck!

hi all, tom, doug,
just curious, where are you using those long rivets, 52 & 62? are they 1/8 in diameter?
all i remember is the 48’s during our build.

thanks

michael.
