Posting Photos

To save bandwidth and storage space, It will be necessary to use image hosting websites to store photos.

There are many image hosting sites out there. If you have the photo anywhere on the web you can just copy the link and

You can use websites such as http://postimage.org/ or http://tinypic.com/ to upload your images and generate the direct link that you need to copy and paste in your posts . You would just replace where I typed the word "here" with the direct web address for your photo.

Example Instructions:

1. Go to a photo sharing website such as http://www.postimage.org
2. Click Browse and then Select the images that you want to post.
3. Make sure the resize has “640x480 (for message boards)” displayed and click upload.

4. Copy the direct link URL as in the image below.

5. Paste the link in your post between tags like this:

6. When you make your post, your image will be displayed as below.

Looks like photobucket is holding our images hostage. My build photos won't show unless I pay $400/year. Bummer, and sorry folks!

btw - for future use for others http://imgur.com/ is super reputable, never charges a fee and correctly resizes images for forums.

I started using postimage.org, but all my old photobucket stuff is gone. Makes most of my 90 pages of documentation useless.

I've been using post image and am happy with it. However, since I've been posting pictures here, I've not kept a picture/log in my possession, relying instead on Sonexbuilders photo album.

Is there a way to print out our photo album from this website to make a physical photo album, not a virtual one?

Big news - somebody has come up with both Chrome and Firefox add-ins to get around the photobucket issue. I've copied this from Saturnfans.net.

If you're having trouble viewing Photobucket-hosted images, then add the chrome extension "photobucket embed fix".

There is also a firefox add on, which I've tested on my thread. I can see the pics again!

This is a cool "workaround" they've come up with but I suspect it won't work for very long.
As soon as photobucket finds out about it they will find a way to block it as they won't be able to hold users for ransom anymore. Download what you can before they do....

I still have all the pictures. What I don't have is the will to rehost them all and update the links. There are 90 pages or so, and hundreds of pictures. So, while the workaround functions, it is there as a resource for other builders.
