Toe Brakes

Postby mccool » Wed Dec 11, 2024 9:15 pm

I made the discovery that the geometry of my brakes is all wrong. The masters are fastened to the floor. This causes the brake bar to press into your foot if you apply rudder.
I was unaware of this on my first landing and it got real exciting because these brakes are very effective.

This is what I have now

What I need is like this, without the masters of course:
Anyone have any spares?

Yeah, that's definitely not normal. I can't tell from the overhead shot, but it looks like there might be room to move the upper attachment higher on the rudder weldment, then add an attachment on the main tube below for the bottom of the master. Anyone who can weld can probably do that pretty easily.

The upper master attachment should actually be as low as possible ie; at bottom of brake pedal to get the best mechanical advantage. You won't have to apply as many pounds pressure to achieve higher psi. as noted here from Matco brakes https://matcoals.com/wp-content/uploads ... der26a.pdf
