Any canopy cover recommendations?

Postby 13brv3 » Thu Apr 06, 2023 5:28 pm

Greetings,

I wondered if anyone has found a canopy cover that's a good fit for the Onex, and maybe less expensive than Bruce's cover. This would be for very occasional away from the home.

Thanks,
Rusty

Hi Rusty

They aren’t inexpensive, but I’ve used Bruces covers in the past and the quality is outstanding. Customer service was super too, and the covers last a long tume. Sometimes cheaper doesn’t turn out to be cheaper…

That's a nice custom fit. I'll probably go with one of Bruce's covers. I like that they're lined inside to keep from scratching the canopy. I wish they'd give some examples of weights and folded size to help decide which one to get. I'd probably want to keep it in the plane all the time, so light and small is best.

I am in the process of making one for the Waiex. I'm more interested in a travel cover so it is made out of fuzzy backed tablecloths.

That will be great for fly-in picnics :-)

I purchased the one from Sonex for the B model, perhaps they sell them for Onex too

Can you find covers on the Sonex page now? There was an old (2013) thread where someone asked about a cover for the Onex, and the answer was that the standard Sonex cover would fit, and was available from Sonex. The web store search doesn't find any canopy cover that I can see now, but if you bought one for a B model, they must have had some fairly recently. If you can find a link, I'll certainly take a look. Thanks,
Rusty

I ordered it in 2017 it was part SKU: Canopy Cover but I can't find it on their website, maybe email Sonex to see if they still sell them

Just lost my hanger and now have to tie down until my number comes up on the waiting list. I purchased Bruce's cover for my legacy Sonex. First time I have used it. Fit and quality seem to be really good. I think the extra $$ may payoff in the long run.
