Brake bleeder upside down?

Postby SvingenB » Sat Oct 03, 2015 9:35 am

I'm installing wheels and brakes and have the aeroconversion hydraulic brakes. The drawings show the supply line above the bleeder line. The bleeder line is positioned straight down. This seems very counter intuitive. I wonder what other people have done.

I installed as per drawings and had no problem, albeit there is very little room between floor and bleeder to work with, when bleeding the brakes.

Bjørnar,
I have a Waiex so I am not sure if it is different. My directions clearly showed the bleeder should be mounted higher.

I retrofitted the brakes onto my Sonex, and the bleeder is at the top. It's worked fine with no problems.

How did you get all the air out when the bleed outlet is at the lowest point? Do you have to pump like crazy, or do you fill it up from the bleeder?

Yes I filled from the bleeder's using this http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/lg ... kkey=16830
On my web site you will see how I improved on their design .It is a one man operation and worked great once I made the changes and used the nipple fitting supplied on the brakes.

Good luck.

A Power Bleeder is cheaper, and I have been very happy with it for my race car, too.

For a while I couldn't work out what all the fuss was about, then it occurred to me that for you chaps in the Northern Hemisphere, bubbles rise to the top. D'oh!
