Mains tire pressure?

Mains tire pressure?

Postby jcondon » Fri Jul 25, 2014 4:55 pm

I can't seem to find the recommended mains tire pressure for a conventional gear OneX. The aluminum wheels are marked with 30 PSI maximum and the tires with 70 PSI maximum. Think I read where some people were running pressures above the 30 PSI wheel maximum. I haven't contacted Sonex yet but can if no one knows the recommended pressure.

Happened to me, too. I was running 35...now I use 50.

Might get by with slightly less pressure for the lighter weight Onex assuming it uses same tire size. One note: I am using the optional 5.00 x 5 tires on my Sonex, and run about 25 PSI with those. If 50 PSI were used with the bigger tire it would put way too m much force on the 30 PSI wheels.

Is there a consensus on the proper tire pressure for the main wheels on a Onex?

I have been using 50 PSI for over a decade. I started using 30 PSI, but kept having the tire spin on the wheel after the pressure crept down even a little. Now I never let it get below 30 PSI. I have no idea how the makers of the TriStar brand of wheels came to the conclusion that 30 PSI should be the maximum, but more than a decade my "landings" on this setup tells me that the Sonex advice (50 PSI) is sound.

50 psi here, but it always ends up at 45. That seems ok too, but I don't go lower than 45ish.

Not sure why this would be different for a Onex.

Thanks. I have been using 25 and I am going to increase it to 50 psi and see what happens.
