vertical fiberglass tip

Postby Mike53 » Sat Jul 19, 2014 7:55 pm

What are builders doing to get a smooth transition to the fiberglass tip ?
The tips look nothing like the drawings ,not even close.
Are you trimming them at the front so that they will sit lower, and then trimming the rear so that the rudder fits ?
Thanks.

Mike, I trimmed about 3/4 inches from the bottom of the vertical and the horizontal tips with a dremeI tool using a cutoff wheel. I accepted the fact that that makes them a little shorter than the rudder and elevator. Paul Onex 76

Mike, what you cut off the bottom will bring the length in closer to match up with the rudder. Don't cut the rear edge to change the length, now the factory built in warp of the trailing edge is another animal.
