The problem with the linear actuators with the position sensor to connect to an EFIS is that they are longer which complicates mounting. The unit without the position sensor is very easy to mount utilizing the existing flap handle. Full extension takes about 8 seconds. I have a GRT EFIS that could display position, but find it simple when landing to count 3 seconds while holding switch down, which gives about 15 degrees of flap, then flip the trim lever to full nose up and leave it there until on the ground. Not necessary to take up critical display screen space for the position function, and one less distraction to scan. (I use an old steam gauge airspeed indicator when landing, the digital display of my EFIS updates too slowly to keep up with the rapid changes of airspeed of a Sonex.)

Electric flaps very handy when landing over trees on short runways. Keep 15 degrees flap until just before the end of the trees, then go to full flap while pulling nose up to kill some speed. At about 65 mph and full flaps, Sonex have the glide angle of a brick. Just keep in mind that you will loose much of any head wind when getting below the trees, Do not want to get airspeed too slow.

Happy NEW YEAR to all.

Rick,
This is not the actuator Sonex specifies. We only use "ball drive" actuators for flaps.

These are the type we use. CAUTION: do not mention you are using them on an aircraft... they will not sell them to you!!!!!
And, yes, we have actuators for flaps on the Sonex and the jet for sale.

HI all,
We used the firigelli auto electric drive for our flaps, on our legacy waiex, love it.
John gillis installed one. we copied his install. hopefully he sees this post and can repost the correct model # .
