AeroConversions pitch trim installation with matched hole pa

Hi everyone,
I am building Sonex 1517 that had matched hole parts. I am now trying to install the pitch trim rear spring attachment eyebolt re-enforcement per page 6 of the pitch trim instruction sheet.
The re-enforcement plate depicted in the instruction sheet is 2" by 1 1/2". In my Sonex with the matched hole parts there is no physical way this part can be installed as depicted.
There is less than 1" at the top, and I am now puzzled as to what to do to re enforce the eyebolt. (Date on the online sheet is Rev C 3/1/2013)
I can possibly get a 2" by 3/4" piece of .025" material in there. Just not sure if this is enough re-enforcement. I did email tech support.
Has anyone else had an issue with this?
