Sun 'n Fun 2020

Hello SonexBuilders.net!

Please note that Sonex Aircraft is NOT exhibiting at Sun 'n Fun this year. Information about Sonex not exhibiting at Sun 'n Fun 2020 has been listed on the Events page of the Sonex web site since the beginning of this year, and many of you may have already heard this news in my recent interview with the Sonex Flight podcast.

We received a very concerned email from one customer today, worried that this may signal bad times at Sonex, and we thought that our reply is beneficial for all to see:
=====================================
It is true, we will not be returning to Sun ’n Fun this year. As you may recall, we were absent from Sun ’n Fun for 9 years before returning to the show in 2015. The event has always struggled to provide ROI in-terms of volume of qualified attendance, and other manufacturers such as Kitfox have backed-out of Sun ’n Fun over the last few years.

In addition to the value proposition of the show, we’re just way too busy, which is a good thing. We are getting incredibly busy with the unmanned sector of our business, Sonex Aerospace. This is good news for everyone involved with Sonex, including kit customers, as it ensures our company’s stability and staying power in a shrinking manned aircraft market. Our growth in the unmanned market allows us to continue serving the manned market.

I know it’s not the answer you want to hear, but the good news is that a big part of why we’re not going is because we’re so busy, which is a very good thing.

Maybe we’ll come back to the show when we have the 2-place jet prototype to show-off, or some other new manned aircraft product.

Also, Bob Carlton will be at Sun ’n Fun flying the SubSonex during airshow, so say “Hi” to Bob and Laurie if you see them.
=====================================

Although we are very excited about the future of Sonex Aerospace in the unmanned market, please know that our dedication to Sonex Aircraft, our kit customers, and our passion for homebuilt aircraft is unwavering. We are looking forward to reaping the benefits of our current growth with more new product developments in our kit aircraft product lines while continually improving our current products and service.

Of course, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh continues to be our "home field" event, and we look forward to seeing everyone at Oshkosh during our Open House and Homecoming Fly-In, and in our booth on show grounds: https://www.sonexaircraft.com/sonex-company-events-calendar/

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly!

Best Regards to All,
-Mark
