Sonex Builders and Pilots Foundation update

Hello Sonex, Waiex, Onex, Xenos and SubSonex builders and pilots!

An update from the Sonex Builders and Pilots Foundation.

Recently, the EAA Type Club Coalition issued its first newsletter and the Foundation was featured prominently. The Foundation was the only experimental aviation type club listed as offering "web-based pilot proficiency resources." This was in reference to our Transition Training document found at http://sonexfoundation.com/Transition_Training.html.

Also discussed was the GA-JSC Loss of Control Working Group. "The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GA-JSC) is a partnership between the FAA, industry, and academia aimed at curbing the fatal accident rate in GA. While tailored to fit the GA world, the GA-JSC is based on the Commercial Aviation Safety Team, a similar effort in the commercial aviation community that won the Collier Trophy for its work.

The GA-JSC sponsored two working groups that investigated loss of control (LOC) accidents, by far the top cause of fatalities in aviation. It took a quantitative approach to looking at accidents, identifying common factors between accidents and what can be done to prevent future mishaps."

One of the items discussed was Angle of Attack indicators. While technically different than an AOA, the Foundation has an article on Lift Reserve Indicators here - http://sonexfoundation.com/Lift_Reserve_Indicator.html.

See our calendar of events at http://sonexfoundation.com/Calendar_Events.html for additional information, and please pass any event information to us so we can post it.

Did you know that the SBPF produces a quarterly newsletter, titled Shop Talk, for its registered members? If you are not already a member, click here http://sonexfoundation.com/Become_a_Member.html to join so that you receive the newsletter while it is hot off the press!

Our May issue featured some beautiful examples of the different models Sonex Aircraft LLC sells. If you would like to see your aircraft featured in a future issue please contact us for details.

Archived issues of Shop Talk are now located on the http://sonexfoundation.com/Newsletter_Archives.html page under the News section of our site.
