The bottom hinge hides under the motor mount. We flush riveted a piece of flashing to the hinge, and drilled it to the cowl. This was with the canopy on, and the hinge/flashing pinned to the fuselage. Then we removed it and drilled the holes.
Time to hack off the canopy bottom:
Here we have a waxed piece of flashing taped and clamped onto the edge. Next session we will do a wet layup to extend the edge we overtrimmed.
