We started drilling the pulley brackets in tonight. Right side is good. For the left side, after I pilot drilled the extra holes in the bracket as specified by Kerry, I clecoed it on backwards. Whoops. Time to hit the Sonex online store.

For the forward skin bend I screwed a little piece of oak to the table and put a radius on it. I used a 2x4 to clamp it down and bent it over with another 2x4 and a mallet. I wish I had used the brake. It will be good enough though. I have an 8' Tennsmith but it is over at EAA 1414 and I don't have a key.

I have finished all the splice plates. Adam did the pilot drilling. I did the edge finishing, chamfering, and bending.

This holds the plate in place and locates the bolt.

Getting them to lay flush and stay that way.

Making them wasn't that bad - getting them to have flush edges....ugh....

I was thinking I was tired and should go to bed. Then I saw Robbie's post and went to the hangar. I got 3 out of the 4 longerons piloted to the skins.

I'm hoping that was my post about the progress on 1517 that you referenced and not my post about the splice plates being a pain.... :D

Great progress Bryan!!!

Robbie,
It was. I find present progress more inspiring than future problems!
