1 year ago today I finished Phase 1 and took Adam in the Waiex for the first time. We flew to a couple of different airports tonight, 2.2 hours of night.

Quite the journey. And thank you for sharing it. Would like to know what you use for cockpit or panel lighting.

And - Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a safe and bountiful 2024 to you and the family.

Thanks and Merry Christmas Greg! And all!

My interior lights are documented in page 3 of the "Interior Lights" thread in the Electrical System area. Here is a link.

One of the pictures from that thread:

I have since done some surgery on that light and replaced the two outer white LEDs with red LEDs. I found that the single LED was really marginal. We had the dimmer at full bright all the time and it was maybe not quite enough. With the two outer red LEDs going we are off the full bright stop.

Our cockpit lighting is not awesome. It would be better if the MFD was not a black LCD display. Makes it hard to see. I did change the pointer style, which is a setting. It used to be a single pointer to the indicated airspeed. Now the circle fills in up to the indicated airspeed and that is easier to see in the red light.

We also carry a couple of red penlights. I had to choke down the light as it was too much. I took a piece of blue tape, punched a hole in it, and put it over the lens. These are our backup lights:

I have one of these mounted statically behind the headlight, in case of electrical failure. It lets us see the instrument panel hands free.

I've also ditched the post lights on the seatback bulkhead. They are still there but not plugged in. They didn't do much for me.

That's a UH60M at KLSE. I used to work at Sikorsky. We met the guy with the tailwind. He is a CFI and has recently been instructing someone who has a Jabiru 2200 powered Sonex. He was impressed with the design.
