Awesome guys. Headed to the hangar in a bit to try and catch up! Great pic and progress Scott!

PS Mike, if it is a race (of course it is not) don't forget Ryan! He is cranking.

Ryan gave us a chance to catch up with his summer hiatus. My fall hiatus is over so it's time to warp up the fuselage and controls so I can start on electrical wiring, and hang my engine!

Good point Bryan! I can't wait until next summer. I predict a lot of first flights happening soon!

Very cool! I did not get to work on the Waiex today but we spent an hour plus on Matthew's project.

Moving onto a new chapter of my build. Firewall forward / electrical! Yippee!

I have done a lot of thought, research and careful planning on my avionics, panel and electrical system. Since about mid-summer I have been designing and purchasing all of the components and tonight I finally started with making the battery box. I went with the plans designated type and size for the Odyssey PC625 battery, but I followed Bob Meyers approach with the construction.

I should also note that I plan to upgrade my built but not yet installed AeroVee to the new Turbo package, so I need to keep everything on the firewall to the left side of the aircraft, and down low (this is based on the recent webinar and Jeremy's pictures and statements).

That's my new company lease car in the background (we hit a homerun with the new Acura TLX!)

The front panel is attached with piano hinges and can be opened for easier installation and removal of the battery!

I will rivet this on over the weekend and start laying out the master relay, voltage regulator and the ignition coils.

Looks great Scott! The new car looks like a great way to combat '99 Saturn Envy (my ride).

Thanks Bryan! Working for Honda R&D has it's perks...but 1999 was a good year.

Another productive weekend. Jumped into the firewall forward electrical layout and placement of components. Master relay, coils, voltage regulator, RDAC, and battery box are all completed and attached. I physically have the AeroVee prepped and ready to mount. This includes both Mags being attached and the gap set to the trigger magnet, the stator pin located and installed, and the stator ring and alternator pickup ready to go (they were mounted to engine and then removed along with the X-Casing). I'm following the advice of Mike Farley and have installed the X-Plate to the engine mount and then we will just attach the engine to the X-plate.

I have also completed the making of the nose wheel fiberglass/RTV steering rod boot. What a weird little item to make. Cut e-glass to the correct pattern, and impregnate with RTV (I used high temp 650 degree RTV). Once dry, cut to correct shape, and stitch together, then carefully form it to the opening drill and rivet to firewall.
