Here is that tricky corner.

We riveted fences under the inlets for sealing that section.

Here is my baffle/splash shield riveted up.
solid rivet baffle.jpg

It sticks down the breather hole and blocks any direct path for oil to get to the breather.

In terms of blocking splashed oil from entering the crankcase vent, the Aerovee kit has a thin louvered plate that fits under the anodized plate which appears to be for the same purpose. However, the assembly instructions say to not use this louvered plate. Anybody know why?

Tom,
I don't know why.

Meanwhile, a major milestone: I got my younger son to work on the airplane.

After nearly 3 years we pulled the wings down off their racks. They were dusty.

We have to polish the right wing gap doubler before we put them on.

Exhaust system, ignition system, baffling ready to go. This is cool.

We had not installed the aileron bellcrank covers yet. I'm working that while Adam polishes the wing root fairing.

Flap and ailerons are installed on the left wing. Right side next. Then we put the wings on. We rolled the Waiex out while we were reshuffling stuff in the hangar.

Woo hoo! Awesome Bryan!

Best way to dust off those wings is to get airflow over them.....
