I recycled my flap and aileron polishing fixture for the landing gear fairings.

News flash: these things are a pain to polish. This is F9, still have to do C.

I'm on vacation today. After I finish a late lunch it is back to the hangar.

These may be the last two pieces I have to polish.

And know you know why I painted all the moving surfaces on mine, plus undersides of wings and tail. The rest just gets occasional buff job until the image of Joe Cool pilot looks like a disheveled old fart.

Today I realized I haven't polished the mixer access cover yet. Maybe my story will be I left it unpolished so I can show people the before state.

I marked the outline of the gear fairings on the bottom skin. Inside I marked the structural extrusions. Then I located holes where the brake lines could exit inside the fairings.

Here is our vent line mocked up, and my fuel catch mockup.

When the catch is in place the vent is hidden.

I have some soft 3/16" aluminum tube I am thinking of using for the drain. I am going to run it inside through the filler box, into the cabin, and out the floor. I am thinking this should be sufficient, though I see others have used 1/4" tube. Thoughts?

I thought it would be easier to polish the fuel catch before I bent it up.

Now I just need to rivet in the corners and figure out the drain.
