Belt sander

Belt sanders are very useful tools. Nice bench mount ones take up space. Here is my solution:

Just used it for sanding my leading edge light lens.

I do love the creativity! Certainly gets the job done.

I picked up an old craigslist belt sander for 10 bucks, one of these classic Craftsman that never die. It's got a great 4" wide belt. It seems that any part can be touched up in seconds with just a quick pass on the belt sander then the scotch brite wheel. It is a great time saver!

I like the clamp on the trigger.

My sander has a trigger lock but it doesn't work anymore. The clamp has not failed me yet. I also have an old (1980's or earlier) belt sander, but it is stored. It has a separate motor and belts to a sheave. Would be nicer to use but I hate giving up that much space.
