Baggage Compartment Weight

Baggage Compartment Weight

Postby racaldwell » Mon May 11, 2020 4:51 pm

Finally got around to weighing my baggage compartment and hat shelf.

Overall added about 5 lbs. The hat shelf is to seal off the back of the fuselage and give me space to stick the neck of my classical guitar I travel with if I ever do any X/C's.

The baggage floor structure is easily seen when I removed the tailcone this weekend for priming the juncture before permanently fastening.

The floor panels are 0.025 and all other panels are 0.016 2024T3. The hat shelf rear panel is S-glass/divinycell core panel I made just because I had leftover material from my wingtip project.

Baggage Compartment Weight

Hello Rick

As everybody probably already noticed, I am always copying the good ideas...

Do you have drawings with dimensions of your hat shelf and baggage tunnel panels?

Thanks
Carlos

Carlos,

I do not have drawings with dimensions. I made paper templates with poster board by measuring what I needed for some parts. The C channel structure I made for the baggage floor supports took a second try on a couple of them. I still have to cross my fingers when making a bend that the final lengths come out right.

If you need it, I can take more pictures and send them to you.
