Peter,

John Gillis talked about vinyl wrapping including suppliers on episode 36 of the podcast. That might help get you going in the right direction.

I took my rudder to a local sign shop in MN and they did an excellent wrap of a checkerboard pattern.

Hi Peter,

My OneX was wrapped by a company located in Slatington, PA which I think is very near you. https://www.idwraps.com/

To do my checkerboard they placed each black square by hand. They are real artists! They can also print a design.

I prepped my instrument panel for painting (roughed it up) before I saw a couple of panels with "the carbon fiber look". Love it!

I'm guessing it's a vinyl overlay. Can anyone tell me if the vinyl products will adhere to anything other than a smooth/shiny surface? I'd really like to have that look, but don't want to polish the panel first.

Or make a carbon fiber overlay. I don't have a picture but I could get one Thursday if you are interested. Easy to make and your bare panel with the holes cut out is the template. I finished mine in March and used water slide decals for labels. Works great.

I made one for my RV-6 and it now is 20 yrs old and still holding up just fine. Some of the decals for ON/OFF on the frequently used switches have rubbed away but after the initial inspection, who cares? Toggle up is on, nobody will forget that.

I've ordered some samples from fellers.com. A 12" x 12" is only $2 or $3. Also ordered VViViD XPO Black Carbon Fiber from Amazon and a 12" x 60" was $10. Small investment to see how it works. It seems to stick well to anything that is clean. No magic about polished surfaces.

That looks great. I'm curious, are the squares 2 x 2?
