Glareshield Access panel

Hi all,

I'm thinking of adding a hinged access "trap door" to the aft center section of my glareshield. The plane was built years ago and unfortunately without much thought given to easy access to wiring and the back of instruments. It would be between the gas tank and the instrument panel. Before I proceed, just wondering if anyone has experience, and advice, doing such a thing

It is a bit more work, but I installed a hinge on the lower portion of the panel and life is so so good by removing just 6 screws from the top of the panel. even an access panel on the top will give you only so much access and still require a good deal of crawling underneath. I posted some pics on the Xenos category some years ago.
