Hinges, PIN size.

Postby waltb » Sun May 09, 2021 9:15 pm

Hello, I am second owner of a Legacy tri-gear. At ACS I saw lots of different sizes of hinges also used as cowl attachments and in the seat pan among other. At ACS though I only see one size of pin for sale. In the plans, are all the different places that these hinge pins use the same size PIN . IE Elevator, Aileron, Seat Pan, Engine Cowling. Talking about the pin and not the aluminum hinges that the pin connects together.

For the undersize hinge pins I bought them from Vans Aircraft. They have the stock .120 pin but also sell .090 and .063.

Another source of replacement hinge pins is your local model airplane hobby shop. You can buy 3 ft lengths of music wire in varying diameters. This wire is high carbon steel and holds up well in the elements, and it's also very strong and "springy".

K&S is the company you'll most often see, and their website gives an idea of the sizes available.
