Gear leg fairings with hydraulic brakes

I am curious if anyone has had to modify their gear leg fairings from plans to use with the hydraulic brake setup?

I am just working on mine, have hydraulic brakes, and figured I would ask.

Yes. The cutouts at the bottom of the fairings are different for the brake lines and fittings versus the mechanical cable and arm. The cuts are actually simpler for the hydraulics. You need to make sure you cut the fairing back far enough from around the brake line to make sure that as the fairings move they don't saw into the brake line. However, in my case I never liked the way my fairings came out and the way they were attached, so I finally made new ones that I like much better. The best way to figure out how to cut the fairings is to use some poster board. Get the shape right with the poster board, then transfer it to you fairings.

Poster board is the way to go. Also consider flaring the fairings an inch or two at the top. It really makes the legs look better over the stock plans.
