From the instructions: http://www.sonexaircraft.com/documents/ ... nstall.pdf

Step 3: Slide the RIGHT wing partially into the fuselage.
Step 5: Insert spar pins halfway into the right spar.
Step 6: Slide LEFT wing partially into spar tunnel.

You're right, you're right, you're right. :-) All I was trying to convey was that MANY of us have erroneously started with the left wing because we see instructions like these as interchangeable between left and right without a preamble that says: "You must start with the right wing." Instead it's just matter-of-factly stated in Step 3. And I never found putting the pins in to be a problem. It was always that the left and right wings would not seat against the fuselage unless you started with the right wing. As always, RTFI :-)

Part number for these was: 98497A595
Can be found here:

(Although I would buy the cotter pin version which is 98412A211, I had to buy some cotter pins and large washers separately, the locking rings don't fit in that spot).

How does Sonex feel about using the McMaster tapered pins? Looks like they would be great.

The response I got from Kerry was positive, he said his plane had hitch pins as well.
However, for something as important as this I would advise you to contact tech support yourself.
