Hi Guys I got all my oil leaks stopped and i am down to one last problem . On take off the nose wheel wanders and it is very hard to keep center line till you get to the speed that the rudder will keep you on the line , when this happen on my 172 it was a bad shimmy damper but on the Sonex we dont have one i looked everything over to see if something maybe lose, or cooked it has always done this and i new i would get to it someday now that i have looked at everything i dont see any way to put more tention on the nose wheel any help will be appreciated

Hello Guy,

I would check three more things on your nose gear.

1-Make sure the rudder and nose gear are aligned with each other. Roll your plane forward while you have someone keeping the rudder centered with the rudder pedals. Make sure the planes rolls straight forward. Correct any alignment and try it again.

2-Check for looseness in the linkage between the rudder pedal and the nose gear steering bracket. Make sure the bolt connecting the linkage to the rudder pedal is not too loose.

3-Make sure your nose gear fork is not bent.

And one more, make sure your nose wheel bearings do not have excessive play.

My ONEX wanders also, not only on take off but also on landing.
Oh, never mind. Mine is a tail dragger. Probably driver error in my case.

turned out to be a little bend in the front fork I could not notice it till i put the original smaller front tire I changed the front fork and works perfect .
