Auto pilot with MGL Extreme

Postby sonex892. » Sat Feb 01, 2020 6:42 am

I just finished installing and configuring MGL servos, roll and pitch, in a center stick A model. Whilst there was plenty of documentation to install the servos, I've found virtually zero documentation on actually controlling the servos with the Mini Extreme. I did fly twice today with the servos in but not operating. There is a slight but noticeable increase in control drag. But if this thing works out I can live with it.

I just found these instructions on a firmware update page.

Has anybody here, successfully used these servos with the Extreme?

I have that configuration. You can adjust the sevovs inside the xtreme menus under autopilot setup. However, I found the default settings to be fine.

You'll find the auto pilot user's manual here: http://kb.mglavionics.com/article/AA-00296/0/Autopilot-Manuals.html

Thanks guys. Just fiddled a bit with it and the second button on the right brings up the autopilot flight menu. I already had the settings installed I just just couldn't find which button to push to engage the damn thing.

Would be nice if MGL included this in the Extreme manual. There seems to be autopilot info in all other EFIS manuals.

2 flights now. After I learned how to engage it, the autopilot works just fine.

I welded new bushings on the control weldments. Still had to extend the the arm on the roll servo but only by 1/4".
