I put mine through my windscreen. I drilled a small hole, have the probe sticking out in the air, and then sealed around it with clear silicone sealant. These pictures are before adding the sealant:

Taking cues from all the responses, I decided to put it on the passenger side in front of the Naca vent, with a small half circle cover. Here is a picture before I finished putting the cover on it.

Most of the reason for locating it there was ease of wire placement on the inside. I'll add another wide angle picture tomorrow.
