The uAvionix ADS-B out solution from GRT appears to be released

Prices keep coming down - let's just hope this solution was done correctly and does not suffer the issues we have seen recently from another vendor....

This thread is almost four years old now, but I wanted to post an update since I started it.

I ended up with a GRT Mini EFIS, a GRT SafeFly 2020 complaint GPS, and a uAvionix Echo ADS-B in and out solution. I removed the Stratux, but really did like the cost and simplicity.

While I’m not thrilled with the documentation and amount of configuration involved, I am thoroughly impressed (again) with GRT tech support. Clint Rosendall, Production Manager at GRT, was helping me and even replied on the weekend when some of their staff was at SunNFun.

While the challenges I had were self-induced (one incorrect wire, several incorrect menu settings) in the end I got it working. I have not flown the flight test with the FAA yet, but am hoping to soon.

The solution cost about $1500 (less due to buying it at Oshkosh 2018), and was straightforward to get working once I got past the configuration settings. I will post final results once I know my ADS-B out passes the FAA flight check.

Just passing this along for others considering adding ADS-B out before the mandate. There are certainly several good, affordable solutions available. This is just one of them.

I'm going with a mostly GRT solution as well -- Sport EX, SafeFly GPS and Trig TT22 with the GRT Trig interface to the EFIS, plus MGL V16 radio. Very lightweight, compact installation. Starting from scratch so no separate transponder required, the Trig covers both Transponder & ADS-B out. Haven't finalized ADS-B in yet, I have a Stratux penciled in.

I concur that GRT support is excellent.

I have now passed the FAA performance check twice using this solution. Both times, no errors or issues in the automated report. That’s important because I’d been reading about others having issues with uAvionix Echo installations not passing the check.
