Yes the knob will be tight to rotate. One solution would be a little knob from the hardware store mounted on the big red knob to help rotate it. What we did was remove the big red knob and replaced with a window crank. Same size shaft . Works well. Another thing we did was to hinge the inst. panel on the bottom , it folds out while your sitting in the plane on the nice soft cushions. Very easy ro work on stuff. Yes , its a structrual piece, so the lower piece we installed a heavy alum. angle.to beef it back up. We then used that angle to mount the toggle switches. Trust me, you dont want to be upside down and twisted around. Too old and too much arthritis for that nonsense. We love the fold down panel. You just have to watch the length of items , cables, coax, harness etc , so it can hinge and clear.

Can you post a picture of your window crank setup? Did you get it at the auto parts store? We have two cars with window cranks and they seem too long.

Its a house window crank, from home depot. Offset w shaft to fit and free rotating knob on end.

Send me a pm with your cell phone # , not sure if i still have it from last summer. I'll take a pic and send to you. Heading to hangar at KRYN tomm to finish up some radio work and installing electric flaps. Like john gillis has.

We redid our mockup and are happy with it. Throttle centered, mixture 3" away, and trim 4" from the mixture.



We are going to move the intercom straight up to the top of the panel. Master, start, and ignitions will be in the lower left panel. Lights, chemtrails, and breakers will be on the bottom of the angle panel, right of the CDI. That will keep those functions separate.
