Sub-panel under the main panel

Hey guys,
As I am not burdened with excess height (5' 7.5") I plan on putting a little sub-panel below the trapezoid as many have done. I have a couple instruments that need to be level, namely a turn needle and a G-meter. The sub panel would be level. Do you think they would be OK from a human factors perspective to have them there, or do they need to be higher?

It depends on how wide you make it. Once sitting it the plane it won't be in the way. Getting in and out is usually the issue. Try mocking it up with some cardboard and see what works

Hi Bryan

If you're planning to do much aerobatics then perhaps really study the layout and see if you can't get the g-meter up in your field of vision. Counterpoint...the plane I'm flying now has the angle of attack gauge down by the left knee (fortunately there's an indexer on the glare shield). Eventually, I have gotten used enough to it to get a quick glance once in awhile, so if that's where you need to put it, you'll just get used to it.

Hi Bryan, from what I've read, the MGL G-1 meter will work on the inclined panel, so that's where put mine.

Mine is a steam gauge. It will work but be off by the cosine of the angle.
