Hi all,
Just happen to catch this on www.kathrynsreport.com. 5 apr 17. Incident occured 4Apr 17.
Report said a sonex landing had a nose gear collapse. Report listed N3677E. Which is incorrect as the faa database shows that belongs to an aeronca. Anyone have any correct info? Hoping for no injuries, and minimal damage.

Not seeing it on the website. Perhaps bad info that was corrected and they changed the article?

Hi Noel,
Just checked, its there, headline is ' incident occured 04 april 2017 in willmar, kandiyohi county, minnesota.'

Not much info and the N number seems to be incorrect. No pictures.
I sent k.r. A email for them to check.

In case you haven't found it by now, the Sonex is N3677F owned by John Lambing.

The accident I found is described by the Wilmer West Central Tribune wctrib.com. Pilot Michael Jude 71. Engine overheated then failed. Forced landing in a corn stubble field. The plane doesn't look like a Sonex to me, note the rudder, cowl etc.

Hi builderflyer,
Thanks, i see john is an early builder , hope there is not much damage. Tri gear aerovee powered sonex. The factory later beefed up the tri gear motor mounts. There was a fix to beef up the older mounts. Or maybe he had a less than stellar landing, in any case good luck to him to repair and get back flying again.
Onex28 thanks, just saw your post.

Hi all,
I went to http://www.wctrib.com. Then typed plane crash in the search box. Then scrool down to article and picture. Hmmm...... More intrigue here, is it a modified sonex? Many similiarities. And the N number mix up and similarities. Johns tri gear is N3677F , this aircraft in accident photo is a taildragger.
Builderflyer are u sure this is johns aircraft? Was it sold and modified? More to follow.........
Also, to the pilot Mr Jude age 71, found outside the aircraft with significant injuries by first responders, godspeed to u and your health.

Thanks jim,
What i think is builderflyer is correct. Was just a typo in orig. article in kathrynsreport on the N number.
Hows your viking engine running? Don Bowen, Waiex49 is just about ready to fly with his viking. He hopes to make oshkosh.
And if the point of this article is john lambing, speedy repairs to you!

Hi Mike,

My Viking Waiex is ready to fly. All I need is some decent weather this weekend. Saturday is forecast for rain, if it clears on Sunday I'll go flying.

FAA gave me a 5 hour Phase 1 program for the new engine. Hopefully it will not take too long to get through that.

I will be at the Rio Linda show in May and will definitely be at Oshkosh!

Fly safe,

Don
