Hi all,
We won a navworx adsb600 exp unit at oshkosh , awaiting arrival, they explained at booth that you dont need a mode s new transponder. We are ordering a sandia 165 mode 3C unit that they reccommended. The box will output the data correctly. Our old king tpx in our varieze is kaput. The navworx box retails for $1399. For experimentals. Take a look at their unit see if it fits your needs.
For safety for anyone thats flying , i reccomend a transponder and 406elt. If you have time when flying and have trouble, engine failure etc, just set it on 7700 . Dont have to be in contact w atc. Also may want to activate your elt also before landing(off airport landing). You will have lots of resources coming for you. The 406's have gps and instant tracking. Remember the old 121.5 elt's not tracked by satelite anymore, just atc facilities listening to the frequencies, and old school airline pilots monitoring from high above.

Because you sniped me and stole my free unit from Navworx, I had no choice but to buy the skyguard unit. Received it last Friday. It took me literally 15 minutes to install and configure. Ok, it will take some more time to hard wire it in and stow the wires and cables. It reads my mode c garmin transponder for altitude and squawk, has its own waas gps and an app to verify everything. Haven't flown it yet as I'm down for annual, but looking forward to it. There's an faa website to check after you fly. https://adsbperformance.faa.gov/PAPRRequest.aspx

Lol well you told me about it when we were sitting on the flightline w mike watching the afternoon airshow. I was talking about the L3 lynx drawing for 6 adsb units a day , and u mentioned navworx. I left pronto to get in my slip. Thanks for the info about skyguard i'll look that one up. Also the faa link to check it out.

Hi all,,
Looks like skyguard is adsb out only. Seattle avionics had the navworx unit ( in and out) for $1150. The navworx people also at the booth thru in the tpx monitor, tpx antenna, uat 978 mhz antenna, and all coax . Wow i looked that up alone is $650. I guess i owe u a steak dinner at the charcol pit john.

Navworx for my plane (planning to purchase soon) - prices from the web site:
- Navworx box = $1,399
- UAT anetnna = $53
- 9' Coax for UAT = $64
- TransMon (connect to xponder antenna coax) = $199
- GPS antenna (inside cockpit) = $59
Total cost for compliant in/out = $1,774, and it will output to my free Avare moving map.

$1,149 box at Seattle Avionics then = $1,524 ADSB!

Yes, that model is out only, but I have a Stratux ADSB in system that works great. They have in/out and are right around the price of the Navworx. Also, if for any reason I don't want the feds tracking me, I can turn of the out and still have everything else working.

So I did an antenna count on my plane.
12 total now.
1-ELT
1-COMM
3-GPS
1-Transponder
2-ADS-B in
1-ADS-B out
and three more just to run the SkyGuard. WIFI, Transponder Integrator and Transponder sniffer.

Also seattle avionics is throwing in the Fly Q efb one yr subscription ($69) if you buy the navworx 600exp from them $1149. Check it out on their website.

So I did my test flight with the SkyGuard yesterday, when I got home I checked the FAA website to see if there were any problems. Looks like I'm compliant, no squawks from the feds. No errors, it found my N# and ICAO. Recorded 21 minutes of flight, however I was up for over 40 min. I climbed to 4000AGL to make sure I had line of sight to the ADS-B towers and radar from KCOS approach. I guess I'm good to go and not expect a call from them to turn it off.
