Sonex #1655 now airborne

Postby jaflint » Fri Sep 08, 2017 10:15 pm

Hi folks:

Long, long time lurker, very infrequent poster. I'd like to report that Sonex #1655, N513CF, took flight for the first time this evening. What a ride!!

After nearly four years, this is a dream realized. The information shared on this board has been invaluable, and I'd like to thank all of you who have contributed to the knowledge and spirit of the Sonex community. Thank you.

And to those of you who post your Sonex flights on YouTube -- you all brought me over the finish line. Many, many thanks.

My transition training consisted of some recent refresher time in a Champ, a really cool opportunity in a relapsed Sonexer's right seat (thanks Jeff!), some aerobatic time in a Decathlon, and finally -- last week -- a 3.5 hour transition training course in an RV-12 with Dennis Carew at Plane Guys Aviation in Waupaca, WI. Highly recommended, in absence of Sonex T-Flight training.

Thanks,
JF

That's fantastic. Very happy for you.

I just finished filling out my registration paperwork a few minutes ago, so hopefully I'll be flying mine before the snow flies.

Thanks for the tips on the T-flight training.

Hi Jason, it appears you have done everything possible to prepare yourself for that first flight. You should be able to fly just about anything now. Congratulations on a successful flight.

Very awesome to hear. I'm sure that was an emotional flight that was the culmination of a great deal of work.
