First flight of (as far as I know) O-200 Continental powered Sonex. Flight was as planed, short, take off, twice around the field and landing. All observers were bored and for some reason I was fairly calm after the first 1/2 of the first circuit. Stable, no tendency to roll but a little sensitive on the pitch. Good design !

Hey Ed,
Congratulations on your first flight! Not sure we have seen any pics of your Conex but we would like to!

Congratulations Ed! I knew it could be done. Sure would like to see some pictures of your engine installation. Love the O-200!

Outstanding!
Love to know what your W/B came out. So many have said the O200 was just too heavy to hang on a Sonex.

Would like to post some photos but mine have too many pixels. I have the battery behind the seat and a 4 lb weight in the last compartment under the elevator. If any one wants to contact me through private message and give me email I will email a few. Will try to convert some of my files.

Regards , Ed

I did manage to get 4 pictures in the photo section labeled Conex. This was much harder than the first flight. I have just quit PC and moved to MAC and things are just different. I showed the motor mount, engine installation and the assembled aircraft. The cowl cheeks are a little large but I had a pair of fiberglass Luscombe wheel fairings and cut of the tops and grafted them on. Enlarged the intake openings and added three bumps to clear the spark plugs. I raised the fuel tank so the filler sticks out. Some might think thats ugly but the problem of getting spilled fuel in the cabin is eliminated as a side effect.

There is an 0-200 powered sonex located in Evansville, in as well. It's been flown, I'm unsure of it's hours.

Ed - Since I've posted a lot of replies to your photos, I feel obligated to ask whether you feel like you're being picked-on or harangued. I've tried to mention a couple of times that I don't bear you any ill-will, but I hope I haven't made you feel unwelcome. I don't understand the appeal of your engine choice, but I do respect the effort you put in to get her flying!

Hope you don't feel pressured to leave the board or pull back on participation here.
