AirVenture 2022 Thread

Postby MichaelFarley56 » Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:15 pm

Hello Everyone,

As amazing as it is, according to my calendar we now have less than 4 months before AirVenture 2022 begins! I know it’s still early, but we all know how quickly time flies by, so I wanted to start a thread about this summer’s big show for us to discuss individual plans.

As you are all well aware, the EAA is going to build a Waiex B model for this years One Week Wonder, and the factory is currently looking for volunteers to help build the kit.

I’m also hoping we can all provide a good turnout of customer airplanes to support our friends at the factory, plus the more friends to camp with at Camp Sonex, the better!

I’m hoping to fly my Waiex up this year and camp for the entire week if at all possible.

So, what are your plans for this summer?

Thanks everyone!

Hi,

I hope that everyone considers volunteering for the Sonex One Week Wonder project! Should be a blast. Here is a link to the Sonex press release: https://www.sonexaircraft.com/oww_volunteers/

I'll be at AirVenture for the entire week, most likely staying at Camp Scholler.

See you there.

I'll be there. Not sure of the dates yet, but probably the first half of the week. Not sure yet if I'm flying my Sonex out from Boston. Hoping to, but nothing firmed up with the wife, yet.

I'll probably make the trek with my Daughter up from Texas. Still trying to talk myself into (or out of?) building a Model B Waiex, probably with a Jab3300

Working on my Sonex weight loss program as my wife like to refer to it as. Hope to drop another 15 lbs by then so we can pack a tent and some extra gear. We are hoping to fly in early like Thursday or Friday before the madness begins. Hoping for great weather fingers crossed. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I'm living this now. Goal is to be able to fly with my son and a reasonable amount of fuel and under 1100 gross.

I'll be there (21 years in a row), but sans Sonex, this time. I plan to help, just not sure when, yet. BTW, when the Sonex booth got relocated, the Sonex parking area kind of went away, other than some of us parking where we "usually" parked. Anyone know if there will be a designated Sonex parking area this year? It would make sense if they are building one.

hi all,
Just spoke to drew at eaa hq. For any lifetime members attending, no longer will be a dinner in the eaa eagle hangar.
Will now be a bigger permanement bldg on the flightline called ‘oasis’ for lifetime members and a guest.
daytime snaks drinks ice cream etc.
