The SBPF Virtual Fly-in's are on a roll, and they've been fun to attend! The topics and presentations have been interesting and full of some useful information. The success of these events is directly due to the volunteers that have taken some time to present their topics. Thank you to everyone that has presented!
As Robbie and I work to keep the good info coming, we need your help. We need volunteers!
Presenting a topic for the fly-in is very easy, and everyone can do it (seriously!). You don't need to prepare a huge, scripted talk either. Just show us your project, or even just a single aspect of your plane that you think might be interesting (and just about everything is interesting to us!). Make sure you can connect on Zoom using your phone or tablet and practice using it ahead of time, and then contact us to get on the schedule. We'll line up a few presenters each week, ensure everyone knows the order of who's presenting, and control the meeting so that when you're up, all you have to do is un-mute your microphone and go.
So what kinds of things should you talk about? Just about anything can work. Here are a few simple topics that would be great to cover...
-A-model mods for electric flaps using a linear actuator
-AeroConversions hydraulic brake setup and mounting
-Fiberglass wheel pant fitting, mounting and mods (as needed)
-Custom cowl access doors and latches
-Canopy latches and locking methods
-Gear leg fairings, including how they're joined and retained to the fuselage
-Tool-box tour (let's see those nifty tools that make life so much easier)
-Favorite chemicals for cleaning, polishing or lubricating
We all have good information and neat ideas, and now we have a fun way to share them easily. So think of something to talk about, send me a note with your idea, and tell us all about it. It will be great, I'm sure!
