Time to Start Planning for AirVenture 2019!

Postby sonex1374 » Wed May 08, 2019 12:04 pm

Hey guys,

Now that flying season has started, it's time to start thinking about making travel plans for AirVenture. There will be lots of fun again this year - Forum Presentations, Camp Sonex, Foundation Meeting and BBQ (with the best view of the night airshow anywhere!), Factory Tours, and all the other airshow activities that make it such a memorable experience.

So, if you're planning on making the trip, let everyone know. Are you planning on flying a long cross country.... we'd like to hear about it! Camping..... staying in the dorms...... renting ahouse or driving in - sounds great. This year promisses to be another spectacular year. I hope to see everyone there!

Flying in to Camp Sonex. Short cross-country from the Twin Cities. Wouldn’t miss it!

I'll be driving out from Connecticut again this year. If anyone in the northeast needs something large (like a canopy or engine mount) brought back from the show to save on shipping costs let me know I'll be at the show from Sunday afternoon until Friday night.

Flying the Sonex out from Boston. Presume I'm parking at the (new location) Sonex area as usual. Camping in a pop-up camper in Camp Scholler. Staying Sat to Sat I think.

I should be able to fit a canopy. My car has a hatchback with fold down seats. I fit two of them one other year in the back of a vw golf. Just pm me a week or two before the show if you need me to bring one back.

I plan to fly the rusty Dodge Ram up Wednesday and stay to the end or so. Are we having the picnic Wednesday as usual?

The Wednesday evening BBQ is definitely on again. What we need is help - I will set up the registration but we need more volunteers. Look for a sign up link soon. Thank you Wayne and Kathy for offering again to host.

We will again be self organizing transportation so if you know you are going to have a vehicle and attend please plan on helping out.

Not sure how I am getting there. Hopefully in the Sonex but I have to be there for some TCC (Type Club Coalition) events, so if I have to I will drive up.
