Sonex Virtual Fly In #3

Postby Sonex1517 » Wed Apr 15, 2020 8:50 am

Good morning Sonexland,

I will be hosting Sonex virtual fly in #3 this Saturday April 18th at 1500 (3 pm) central time.

Right now I need two builders who would like to go over their projects with the group. Alternative engines to the front of the line, please!

The past two events have been fun, so if you’d like to put faces and names together and “meet” some of the folks from the forum, please join us. I will host and pretend I know how to manage a video conference.

Meeting ID: 595 392 2944
Password is the name of the aircraft that is the first of this kit line. Not the Onex. Not the Waiex. Not the Xenos. Not the jet. It starts with a capital letter.

Again, I will post a snarky ATIS on Saturday morning - please check it, because if we aren’t sure who you are, telling me the ATIS information will at least tell me you read the posts.

No politics or you will be given a time out.

I was a bit chatty in the first one so feel free to give someone else time at the Mic; but if you wind up needing someone to show and tell, I'm happy to do so. With my ship in the final stages of construction but with all the major assemblies in my shop I can walk around all of them and talk about what's stock, what I modded, what I'd do differently, etc. Just know that the offer's open if you want it! Otherwise I'm happy to see what others are doing with their ships. :-)

Take care,

You seem to think everyone of us Sonex owners are computer savvy. How about some simple instructions like, what program are you using, how do I access it, I think I understand the password, but I'm not familiar with what you are doing.

Onex 107,

You'll need to download the "Zoom for Meetings" app using either a computer, tablet or smart phone. Once you have the app installed, the program will walk you thru creating a free Zoom account. When your account is up and running, you can then connect to the zoom meeting using the meeting ID and password Robbie provided.

Download Zoom: https://zoom.us/download

Connect to a meeting: https://us04web.zoom.us/join

A few minutes experimenting with the app ahead of time will help you out quite a bit. Although you can choose to use whatever device you have or prefer, it seems to work best using a tablet or smart phone because they have built-in cameras and microphones. If you're using a tablet you'll need to have an active internet (e.g. wifi) connection. Lastly, if you'd like more help, watch the video below or search Youtube for a ton of how-to videos.

Hope to see you Saturday!

Hi everyone,

Apologies - life got a bit crazy this morning. I’m late replying.

Noel - yes please!

Onex 107 - we don’t want to leave anyone out. Yes, I make assumptions about technical savvy. I apologize.

So far we have three builders lined up. I will see everyone tomorrow at 1500 central (3 pm).

Look for the ATIS in the morning.

Again, please keep in mind my warped humor. Have the ATIS if you need it today:

* Stay well away airport information Bravo, time 1955 Zulu
* Wind 200 at 4
* Visibility 10 miles, skies clear
* Temperature 22, dew point 10
* Altimeter 30.10”
* Runway 18 in use
* Remarks: Maintain six foot minimum spacing at all times. Taxiway Delta closed due to parked aircraft. Runway 9-27 closed due to runway contamination. Pilots discussing politics can expect to be told to remain clear of the airspace in a holding pattern. Pilots failing to observe minimum spacing can expect to be quarantined for 14 days. All pilots can expect to be muted as required. All pilots read back runway and hold short assignments.
* Advise on initial contact you have information Bravo

Thanks for the info Jeff. I didn't join this morning. I don't like what I read about the lack of security on Zoom. I'm super cautious about what I do on the internet. Maybe when it gets better.
