Work Table

Postby BobDz » Fri Jan 05, 2024 1:55 pm

Time to build a work table.
I was thinking of making the basic table 3' x 8'.
And, if necessary make any needed extensions.

Any suggestions?

The EAA work benches are incredibly strong and versatile when built in pairs.

Make any bench you choose with an inch or two overhang for clamping.

I built my Onex in my half of a two car garage and I didn't want to have a work table left over after the build. I went to a local used furniture store and bought two office desks, like I worked at for 45 years at Caterpillar, for $35 each. End to end they are about 3 X 8 and I could separate them, and stand my drill press in between them when I made the main spar. The legs are adjustable so they can be leveled and the drawers are handy to hold tools. And ---- the best feature was I donated them back to the furniture store when I was through.

Thanks everyone for replies and ideas.

I ended up taking a simple route.

After repacking my 4x10 pallet in the order that I will be using the parts and pieces, I simply use the 4x10 OSB pallet for a workbench. As I assemble the fuselage, I'll transfer it to a set of saw horses. "Problem" solved.
