I got a new GoPro 11, and I hadn't used my wing-mount camera in quite a while so I put up a video on YouTube.

Mike,
How do you judge when to kick it over for the hammerhead in the Sonex? It was the first maneuver I learned (in an Enstrom) and I did a lot in the Pitts. In the Pitts we used to wag the ailerons just a bit and when they got ineffective we would kick in rudder. I'd be concerned about a tailslide in the Waiex.

It's mostly by feel, but I'm around 50 kts when I begin to think about moving the control surfaces. So with lag time I'm probably in the 40's. Don't want a tail slide, right?! By the time the airframe is turning over I expect I'm in the 30's and 20's. With the engine at full power the rudder is doing all the work, so as long as you don't tail slide, the rudder will do its job.
