Roll rate

I have the aerobatic aileron modification on my Waiex and always wondered what the roll rate would be. I posted a video to show it. Pretty impressive.
I entered each roll at 125 MPH indicated and did a full deflection throughout the roll.

Looks like about 120 degrees per second, or a little better. Pretty good! What do the stock ailerons do?

Does it handle noticeably different in level flight? I have been curious to know if it becomes a handful on a cross country flight with the larger ailerons. Also, how does it feel with the smaller flaps? Is the stall speed noticeably higher?

For the acro ailerons I timed 2.83 seconds and for the regular ailerons 4.2 seconds. That is 127 vs 85 degrees per second. Those measurements are somewhat rough.

There isn't a dramatic difference in handling due to the reduced flap area. The flaps are still very effective. The difference in full-flap stall speed is minimal, to the point of being almost undetectable in normal operations.
If I were building a Sonex for myself, aerobat ailerons would be a must. :)

Pilot technique may also be a factor. I doubt I was getting all the roll performance possible from my plane.

Agreed, I'm an upside down rookie. I entered the roll at @ 125mph ias pulled up slightly and did a full deflection and held through the roll. To compare to the standard aileron, we would need someone with them to do the exact same. Not sure it Charlie did that.
I will say that having the big ailerons does not make the plane twitchy, the smaller flaps do not impact my landings. I can land as slow as any other sonex. I'm glad I chose them,
