Taper pin reamer

My left seat joystick is developing a bit of play. I think it needs a taper pin. I borrowed the "community" taper pin reamer a couple years ago and sent it back out to the next guy that needed it. Does anyone know where it is?

Once you guys are done with it, let me know. I will have you ship it back.

Which reminds me that I have one of David A’s tools to return!

Learned long ago that when something is everybody's responsibility, it is nobody's. That is the reason why I have not donated to the foundation, the two tools I keep sending out. Suggest having one active member of the foundation be placed in charge of maintaining, tracking and insuring the return of tools.

Is there a #2 taper reamer being passed about, or is it just the #1 size? I'm looking for a #2 Brown and Sharpe taper reamer for my control sticks. I'm pretty sure that's the size needed to replace the AN4 bolts.

I have just ordered a #1 and #2 B&S reamers from Aircraft-Tool.com. Their price was about 1/3 of AS price.

Mistakenly ordered same previously from MSC, and found out the hard way that aircraft reamers are NOT the same as standard #1 and 2 reamers, which are MUCH smaller. You have to track down the Brown&S ones.

Here is the information on the reamer being passed around from the foundation:

This reamer is a B&S #1 size and will taper holes for the AN 386-1-8 taper pin.

Available:
B&S Taper Reamer #1

I found that I could get large enough holes with the #1 reamer even for the larger pins just by drilling farther into the parts with it. For whatever that's worth!

Chris,

Thanks for that info. That may save me $40 if I can borrow the #1 reamer when Bill is done with it!
