Fortunately, no stall, no spin, no one significantly injured. If the engine quits, put the nose down, pick the least bad crash site, and phone your insurance company.

If you think you might be dyslexic you should look into an organization called "DAM" (Mothers Against Dyslexia).

I believe this is the Chapter 555 Waiex that some of us helped build the wings for in Oshkosh as part of the Give Flight program.

Glad there were no injuries.

Hi all,
Thanks dave for the correct N number. Yes robbie looks like you are correct.
FAA database. shows a revmester 2100.
kathrynsreport listed this as N555YX. I’ll send in a email to them, N555WX.

Good job with the emergency landing! Glad you’re ok. The plane looks to be in decent shape. If the gear legs aren’t bent too badly, they should be repairable. Robert Barber could tell you how he has done it. If you need his contact info, send me a message.

Hi All,

The Waiex in question (as mentioned) is the 555 chapter build, 555WX.

The incident in question was pretty straight forward. I lost power over the departure end of the runway on takeoff and had to land in the desert. I bent the gear, broke the prop and put a couple of dings in the leading edge skin on one wing, ...and we need a new seat cushion ;) It's all very fixable.

We're still sorting out what happened but my best guess right now is the engine went way over rich. I've got some photos but I'll have to figure out how to post them (heading out the door right now).

The Waiex is a great flying airplane and it did a great job of helping me out of a bad situation.

Fritz can you confirm the engine and carb set up in N555WX?

best on the rebuild.
