I’ve been absent for some time as my search for new wings took longer than I expected. But I’m happy to have an update and also wanted to share the status of 83LJ.

Sonex #0864 is ready for its first flight after a 1.5 year down time. The new owner has installed a 350IS and a big prop. We are awaiting first flight results.

As for me, I’ll be parking just behind all my Sonex friends at Oshkosh this year. After and extended search, I’m happy to report I’m flying again with a new set of wings. I’ll be changing the N-number to our wedding date 6/7, the Sonex was our meeting day 8/3. :)

The specs: Vans RV-9a tip-up with a Lycoming o-320 and cruise prop. Yesterday I flew the first cross country to Greenbay WI from Chicago. 275nm. 55min each way with a total average of 153mph on 8.7gph. IAS enroute was 165mph @ 55%. Spot on the published numbers.

Looking forward to seeing my Sonex friends and visiting you at your bases. I love my cross-country trips!

Hope all is well with those I am not in regular contact with. Fly safe. J.
